British Fishing Zone Region Independent Right, Protection & Management:
Boris Johnson's policy is to take back control [and to allow some kind of mutual regional quotas] is a firm committment but in order to be both taken seriously and to avoid a happy deal that has no eyes or muscle to police it, fishing in British water will just continue [as it does in the dark] ton by ton away.
We will need an appropriately equipped coast guard for both fishery protection and south water ingress migration prevention.
''Why we MUST leave.'' - 'Euro MPs reject call to stop Dutch fishermen decimating British waters.'
“When we fish outside of the 12-nautical-mile zone, it’s a desert. Everything is gone, there are no gastropods left. It’s all been wiped out and going beyond the 12 mile zone is a waste of time.”
UKIP's Mike Hookem: ''Reviving the fishing industry would be my number one priority as Grimsby's MP.''
And the British fish war will probably begin, if Britain is looking.. and able to Police it, Or the fish will keep going..
Right & Protection
In 1982 a U.N Convention agreed The 200 mile exclusive economic zone, with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea when the 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone was formally adopted, which Britain accepted after years of rejecting and ignoring Icelands regional fishing demands for its regional fishing right.
The Icelandic 'Cod Wars'
Britain started fishing near Iceland in the 15th century.
The first cod war started in 1415 between Britain and Norway, over Norways sole trading agreeent with Iceland that Britain was breaching. [Icelandic historians record 10 cod wars]
In 1958 Iceland expanded its fishing zone from 4 to 12 miles. [The 'first cod war' - in Iceland 8th cod war]
In 1972 Iceland extended its fishing limits to 50 nautical miles. [The second cod war]
In 1975 Iceland extended its 'Exclusiive fishing ground' to 200 n-miles. [The third cod war.]
In 1976 with Britain continueing fishing within the Icelandic economic zone, Iceland attempted to purchase U.S 240 ton 50 meter fast patrol gun boats but the sale was denied by Henry Kissinger.
Iceland turned to purchase Soviet eqivelent price Frigate class 950 ton 82 meter war ships. During the deal build up, Iceland declared its intent [threat] to withdraw from NATO. This would deny America access to Icelands NATO harbour facility.
America denied being behind the British compromise to remove half its trailers from Icelands 200 mile boundery. Soon after NATO mediated sessions agreed with Britain to a limit of 24 trawlers within the 200 mile zone and a limit of 30,000 tons of fish.
In 1982 The United Nations Conference on the law of the sea agreed the exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles. End of British intrusion.
Protection War [Coming Or inability]
''Britain never had a sole fishing right because they were already in and under the E.U law when the 1982 U.N agreement occurred.''
“Rather than reclaiming what is rightfully ours under international law, Theresa May's manifesto has signalled her intention to only reclaim waters up to 12 miles."
Mike Hookem - "The EU realise how important fisheries are to their economies, that is why they are fighting for them."
The Danes and the Dutch will ignore the 1982 U.N law of the sea for exlusiive economic right, for Britain.
Boris Johnson's policy is to take back control [and allow a mutual access quotas for] but in order to be both taken seriously or to avoid a happy deal that has no eyes or muscle to police it, fishing in British water will just continue [as it does in the dark] ton by ton away.
We will need an appropriately equipped coast guard for both fishery protection and south water ingress migration prevention.
During this protected time the destroyed British fishery should be allowed protected time to recover capacity and fish size quality.
Illegal immigration across the Chanel:
There is an immediate responce need for a fast enclosed rib.
This design type of an 8-9m rib with duel outboards [no down time for service / fault] can be made in Britain by any number [split for speed] of UK manufacturers, using cox marine diesel outboards.
This design but with a radar tower with low light and infra red camera set up will give our border force a deterrant capable, trafficker intercept and rescue with [armed] arrest capability.
Warm enough for 8 hour shifts. [Three eights in twenty four]
The current 12m double deck ribs are unnessessarily big heavy [slowed] inboard hampered and Expensive for shift work [when it is the numbers that count] where it is only an average of 30 minutes away from home port harbour.
